Join debut local author Matthew A. Tallon, a former U.S. Army transportation office, and his father, Lt. Col Joseph F. Tallon for a look back at Joe's harrowing experience at the end of the Vietnam War and his quest to secure a Purple Heart for his tactical observer, Specialist-5 Daniel Richards, who died in combat. This father-son collaboration re-creates Joe's time in Vietnam, from wartime letters and remembrances and contextualized by contemporary news accounts in his book 100 Days in Vietnam: A Memoir of Love, War, and Survival.

Copies of his books will be available for purchase and signing.

About the Authors: Matthew A. Tallon (Son) and Joseph F. Tallon (Father) are both former Army officers and both former high school history teachers with master’s degrees in education. They are both products of the South Carolina Lowcountry and both avid fishermen. This journey to tell this story together has been one of their most difficult assignments, crafting a narrative that provides another unique installment in the literature of the Vietnam War.
