Join us as we introduce Audio Described Movies, hosted on the first Friday of each month. Today, join us for the audio descriptive version of Forrest Gump. Audio description (also referred to as “description” or “video description”) is defined as “the verbal depiction of key visual elements in media and live productions.” Audio description is a means to inform individuals who are blind or who have low vision about visual content essential for comprehension. Audio description of video provides information about actions, characters, scene changes, on-screen text, and other visual content. The audio description of the action or the people or the scenery never interferes with the dialogue spoken by the characters.
Six Oscars, including Best Picture and Actor (Tom Hanks), went to this extraordinary tale of a simple man who unwittingly becomes involved in some of the key moments of the 20th century. Meanwhile, as the remarkable parade of his life goes by, Forrest never forgets Jenny, the girl he loved as a boy, who makes her own journey through the turbulence of the 1960s and '70s that is far more troubled than the path Forrest happens upon.
