Join us for a Sunday afternoon concert in the beautiful historic Richardson Building featuring Scott Woolweaver and Lynn Salmonsen on viola and piano. 

Scott Woolweaver, viola, graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan School of Music where he won the Joseph Knitzer and Earl V. Moore awards for outstanding participation in chamber music. After moving to Boston for graduate studies with Walter Trampler, he founded the Boston Composers String Quartet, which won the silver medal at the 1993 String Quartet Competition and Chamber Music Festa in Osaka, Japan. He also founded the Vaener String Trio, which won the Grand Prize at the Joseph Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. From 1999-2006 he was a member of the Ives Quartet, based in San Francisco, CA, and for over 25 years he was a member of the New England Piano Quartette. A champion of the music of our time, Scott has premiered many new works, including pieces written especially for him. Since 1980 he has been a member of Alea III, a contemporary music ensemble in residence at Boston University. Scott has served as principal violist of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and is a faculty member of the All Newton Music School and Tufts University. He is a regular guest of the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society, and the Director of the Adult Chamber Music Institute at Kneisel Hall in Blue Hill, ME. Scott plays a Johan Georg Thir viola made in Vienna, 1737.

Lynn Salmonsen, piano, has extensive experience as an accompanist and chamber musician in the Boston area. She has traveled to Europe as pianist and organist with the Buckingham, Browne and Nichols Upper School Chorus and has performed in Oregon with the Britt Festival Orchestra. Ms Salmonsen has been the pianist for the Handel & Haydn Society Youth Choruses, Director of the Mount Ida College Choir and accompanist for The South Shore Childrens Chorus since its founding in 2016. Currently she is the Music Director and Organist at East Congregational Church in Milton, and the Artistic Director for the Milton Young Musicians Festivals. She maintains a private teaching studio in Quincy and Milton. Ms Salmonsen holds an Artist’s Diploma in Chamber Music from the Longy School of Music, a B.M. in Accompanying and Chamber Music from the Hartt School of Music and has completed additional graduate coursework at Boston University School of Fine Arts. She has studied with Luis Battle, Walter Trampler and Leslie Parnas, and performed with the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival in Vermont.

The Richardson Building seats a maximum of 100 and on some occasions we do have to turn people away when that capacity is reached. We recommend planning ahead and leaving time for parking, which can be tricky in Quincy Center. On Sundays, if the Library parking lot is full, there is overflow parking available in front of the Coddington Building, across the street from the Library on Coddington Street. Doors open 15 minutes before the start of the performance.  If you'd prefer to watch from home, the event will also be LIVESTREAMED to our YouTube channel and recorded and aired at a later date on QATV.
