Frederick Law Olmsted’s principles and values on parks, places and people are just as relevant today as they were in the late 19th century. Maybe even more so. Olmsted saw shared greenspaces as an opportunity for community building, or what he called, “communitiveness.” Shared greenspace allowed for community members to both serve and serve others and that was especially important as healthy civil societies are what bring people together.

People from all walks of life connect in a singular location. It allows for diverse individuals and groups to find a literal common ground. The Olmsted Lawn at Thomas Crane Public Library continues to provide a healthy space for people to meet.

• 12 - 4 PM: Lawn Games & More - Celebrate the Trees on the Lawn with official identification supported by Quincy Tree Alliance, Get a Library Card, Community Partners Tabling, Sapling Tree Pick Up
• 3 - 4 PM: Concert on the Lawn - Lewis & Ferri: Coffeehouse Songs & Stories of American Songwriters!
