Grab your popcorn & join us for our new movie series: Presidential Popcorn Nights! In the month leading up to the 2024 Election, we'll be celebrating as the City of Presidents with two movies on presidential history. Our first selection will be Amistad (1997). In 1839, slaves start a shipboard rebellion against their captors while en route to America. Captured, they are imprisoned in New England, where a sympathetic former slave convinces a property lawyer to prove the kidnapped Africans were "stolen goods". Later, the case moves to the Supreme Court, where former President John Quincy Adams stirs emotions with a powerful defense. Rated: R
